History Uxem

Allard Berghuis takes over the company J.P. from UXEM. The company is engaged in the manufacture of foam dog baskets and cushions. The end products are sold to wholesalers and pet shops.

The company is converted into a BV, namely “Industrie- en Handelsmij UXEM B.V.” 2nd choice foams and textiles are purchased and processed into dog baskets and cushions.

UXEM B.V. verhuist naar de Katwijkerweg in Valkenburg (ZH) naar een groter pand. Alle ruimte om de productie professioneel op te zetten. Inmiddels heeft het bedrijf zich gericht op productie uit 1e keus schuim.

The production of dog beds and cushions is stopped and a new direction is taken. UXEM will focus entirely on cutting technical foams and mold-shaped foams.

UXEM has now outgrown its premises in Valkenburg for some time and that is why construction of a new building in Lelystad will start in mid-2002, completely custom-built and with a view to future growth.

On January 1, 2003, UXEM moves to Lelystad. The new building is 5,000 m2 and stands on 1 ha of land, so plenty of room for expansion. There is plenty of room in Lelystad for our large foam blocks! We are also very central to our customers here.

UXEM has a number of new competencies. O.a. block foaming is being further developed so that UXEM can produce its own foam blocks. UXEM has also developed a new processing technique that we call “thermoforming”.

UXEM has decided to stop mold-formed foaming. This strategic decision means that we can fully focus on additional forming techniques such as punching, CNC cutting, 3D shape cutting, thermoforming (flat 3D shaped parts can be produced with this).

Daughter Suzanne Berghuis, who has been working at UXEM since 2006, will succeed her father Allard as director of UXEM. They will run the company together during a takeover period of 2 years, after which UXEM will continue to grow under a new version.

UXEM celebrates its 40th anniversary. We are very proud to celebrate this age with all our employees. We also officially launched our ECO foams this year. These foams are produced in an environmentally friendly manner by means of: high-quality vacuum technology. 50% of the ingredients come from nature.

UXEM launches its new brochure and corporate identity. Refreshing and fitting for UXEM. This style will also be visible on our exhibition stands at home and abroad. The new website will be launched in February 2017.

In December 2024, UXEM will celebrate its 50th anniversary, what a milestone! Since December 1974, UXEM Flexible Foams has grown over 50 years into a professional company that provides customers with unique customized products and sustainable, technical foam solutions.
